Kinja'd!!!6 Kinja'd!!! 14

I found one. The one. If it is still there on Saturday, I might head up and drive it. It’s about 45 minutes from me.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It’s a retired customer courtesy car for the dealer’s body shop. Around 3,000 miles. The dealer says the salesman has a deal working on it pending approval, though.

I wish I wasn’t such a chickenshit and could just take the plunge. Actually, I wish Mazda would sell the damn 6 wagon here. That’d solve ALL my problems.

Behold the glorious ness.

I’m honestly just worried about reliability. I’ve been spoiled by our two Mazdas. They literally never have issues beyond tiny things like a TCM update for our former CX-5 and brake wear issues on my 6 (that I solved with upgraded Raybestos brakes).

I’m worried the Opel won’t be as trustworthy.

Meh. It’s an extension of an ecotec under the hood. Those are pretty stout. I think the trans is a GM/Ford mashup. I’m not expecting any major issues. Just staying on top of maintenance, not neglecting flushes, that’s my plan. They’ve sold this car in Europe for awhile so most of the bugs should have been worked out by the time it came over here.

Reallllllly seems like you want one... I say buy it. Take your Mazda in for  an “oil change” and come back home with a Regal TourX. She won’t suspect a thing.

I really do. I’m just not good with change. I have an anxiety disorder and big changes stress me out badly. Even if they’re good changes. This hasn’t even happened yet and possibly won’t and I’m already anxious about it.

My main worries are the Opel/Buick’s reliability or lack thereof, the fact that Id be dumping a paid off car for one that’ll have a payment again, the judgment from  family and friends for doing so, and no longer owning a Mazda. I’ve been a Mazda fanboy for ten years, now. I had my 3 for 6 years and I’ve had my 6 for 4 years.

Just a thought, what about letting this dog lie until after Christmas.  Enough stress and anxiety accompanies the holidays as is.

Actually, the trans is an Aisin (T hey are partially owned by Toyota) F8F35, which is used in EVERYTHING! Seriously, it’s used in the FWD BMWs (X1, 2, Mini Club/Country), a bunch of GMs, the Lexus RX and ES, several larger Peugeot, the Toyota Camry, Avalon, and Rav4, the VW Jetta, Tiguan, and Atlas, and basically every Volvo model since 2014.

That is a gorgeous looking car! Theres someone at work who has it in the dark red, which I really love, but it looks amazing in the bright red!!!

I don’t get all the GM unreliability stuff (and this isn’t directed at you) - my family mostly drives GMs and most of the stuff we’ve owned has gone over 200k miles, a few over 300k, with no major issues in anything. Never had to replace/rebuild an engine, transmissi on, nothing. I’ve owned several GMs, an old Pontiac Grand Prix that was bulletproof, a Cobalt which sadly was totaled at 73k, the Cruze, and the Terrain which has been great so far, though it only has 16k miles. The Cruze is really the only GM that’s had any issues, most of which got fixed under warranty, other than the stupid PCV system which is unique to that engine as far as a I know and not shared with any other GMs. The transmission is an Aisin 8 speed and used in everything under the sun (see my list below or look on Wikipedia). The engine is an EcoTec LTG 4 which has been in production for a while and only has issues if you try to do crazy mods to it (pistons split at like 450 HP). It’s on an E2xx platform which it shares with a bunch of other GM cars and the Cadillac XT4 crossover, so they will be making parts for a while.

As for the rest, I wouldn’t worry too much so long as you can financially handle it. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks as long as you are meeting your obligations, and to put it in perspective, you’re trading a Mazda for a Buick. It’s not like you’re upgrading to a Bentley. And you can still be a Mazda fan and not own one. I still love Subarus, or at least mostly do (their most recent stuff doesn’t impress me as much) even though I haven’t owned one since 2008 .
